As the Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players perform songs based on a
series of slides found at estate sales, it's difficult to understand
the depth of their appeal solely on the strength of their music. The
DVD Off and On Broadway addresses that problem, interspersing
interviews with fans ranging from comedian David Cross to
singer-songwriter Nellie McKay with performance footage. Along the
way, you'll see how the family--father Jason on guitar and keyboards,
mother Tina on slide projector, and 11-year-old drummer Rachel--have
charmingly woven themselves into the fabric of New York City. This is
